BUILDING as PARTNERS (BAP) is a family-owned business with nearly five decades of experience building custom homes throughout West Texas and eastern New Mexico. We began operating as “BAP” in 2017 with the goal of bringing affordability to high quality homes, especially for rural communities largely underserved by custom builders.
We believe that imagining and building a beautiful, quality, one-of-a-kind home should not be limited to those with bottomless pockets. We help customers navigate the ever-changing economic and financial landscapes by offering services ranging from build-ready plans, specifications, and budgets, to shell homes, all the way through the more typical turnkey, ready-for-occupancy homes (or Barn-homes).
The key to our success has been the tremendous efficiencies made possible by the diligent translations of our clients’ visions into the detailed instructions needed by contractors, vendors and our construction management staff.
BAP is owned and operated by the father-daughter team of Ron Lubowicz and Katy Murphy-Lubowicz. They, together with world-class construction teams trained and managed by Alejandra Lopez, plus the help of many other dedicated staff and professionals, offer several differently priced pathways for clients to bring their visions to life and into harmony with their wallets.
RON LUBOWICZ has a career in home design and construction that spans 47 years and includes over 1,500 rural and suburban homes scattered from Dalhart in the Panhandle, to as far south and east as the San Angelo area, and as far west as El Paso and parts of eastern New Mexico. His lifelong passion has been to create elegant homes that not only meet the unique needs of each client, but also can be built efficiently and affordably. He oversees the design and engineering of our homes and is the backstop for our field operations.
Ron and his wife Barbara have called Lubbock home since the 1970s, and they still live in their home Ron built in 1986.
KATY MURPHY-LUBOWICZ has over 13 years as an operations professional and is one of the co-founders of Building as Partners. She will work with you in navigating the design, detailing, budgeting, and financing required to launch a successful homebuilding experience and to stay on course throughout the construction and move-in process.
Katy grew up in Lubbock and graduated from Monterey High School and then Washington University in St. Louis, and she earned her MBA from the University of Maryland. She and her husband love spending time in the great outdoors with their wonderful kids and their very spoiled dog.
ALEJANDRA LOPEZ has a natural talent for getting the job done … correctly, on time, and in budget. She serves as BAP’s Lead Builder and handles all of our day-to-day field operations. She will be your primary point of contact once we break ground. Alejandra’s proactive approach to construction management, her tremendous focus on detail, together with her exceptional team-building skills, combine to produce some of the smoothest, most efficient custom home build-outs in the industry.
Alejandra was born and raised in El Paso and moved to Lubbock after graduating from the University of Texas at El Paso in order to earn her MBA from Texas Tech. Lubbock has been home to Alejandra, her husband, their son, and a dog named Jack since 2018.
ANNA ESPARZA manages all purchasing and invoice management for Building as Partners customers. Her attention to detail and great working relationships with our vendors guarantees accurate billing for your project. Anna has been with BAP since the beginning and is an invaluable member of the team. She has developed systems that minimize errors, catch mistakes, and reduce staff time. She also manages pricing updates on big-ticket items, ensuring our cost estimates are always accurate.
Anna is a Lubbock native, and she and her husband have raised 5 wonderful children.
MARK ESPARZA brings knowledge, dedication, and hard work to every BAP job. As our Assistant Site Manager, he helps oversee the daily management, supervision, coordination, and successful completion of construction. He is an integral part of the build team, and you'll likely see him on site regularly.
Mark is a Lubbock native and has years of construction experience with flooring installation.
